Andriy Bilous, the artistic director of the Young Theater and a lecturer at Karpenko-Kary University, who was previously suspended after accusations of sexual harassment, has been reinstated.
In a comment to hromadske, Bilous confirmed that there were no legal grounds for his suspension or dismissal.
“As of March 14, as before, the Department of Culture (Kyiv State Administration) has no legal grounds for suspending or dismissing me from my position,” Bilous said.
He also recalled that on February 10, he independently wrote a statement about his suspension for a month to avoid speculation.
Today, March 14, a meeting of the team was held at the Young Theater, which was attended by Serhiy Anzhiyak, director of the Kyiv City State Administration's Department of Culture. He explained that Bilous's dismissal is possible only if the management loses trust, but at the moment there are no such grounds.
Earlier, a student at Karpenko-Kary University accused Bilous of sexual harassment. She published a video message, where, without showing her face, she spoke about intimate messages from the teacher.
Due to public outcry, Andriy Bilous temporarily left his position, but has now returned to managing the theater.
Given the lack of legal decisions regarding the case, his future in the theater remains an open question.
