Another 1,000 cameras will be installed in Kyiv schools

As part of the modernization of the educational infrastructure in the capital, the active implementation of video surveillance systems and digital technologies in schools continues. As reported by the Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration, Valentyn Mondryivskyi, by the end of the year, it is planned to install about 1,000 more video surveillance cameras in educational institutions in the Pechersk and Dniprovsky districts.

According to Mondryivsky, surveillance cameras, as well as reliable internet and Wi-Fi in shelters, are the basis of a modern safe learning environment that should guarantee parents' peace of mind and ensure the effectiveness of the learning process.

Currently, 1,319 surveillance cameras, 123 devices with facial recognition function and 13 cameras in kindergartens have been installed in the capital's schools. The largest number of institutions covered by security systems can be boasted by Obolonskyi district (47 schools and 55 kindergartens) and Desnyanskyi (53 schools and 69 kindergartens).

Digital transformation also encompasses other aspects: 396 schools in Kyiv already have access to optical internet, 71 schools are equipped with Wi-Fi, and 391 shelters are provided with internet connectivity, which is critically important in times of constant threat of air raids.

"Today, security and digital accessibility are not privileges, but a necessity. We will continue to improve the technical equipment of our schools so that children can study in conditions that correspond to the realities of wartime," Mondryivskyi noted.

The city authorities emphasize that the development of security systems and digital technologies in schools will remain a priority in the future, especially given the security situation in the country.
