March 1 is a day filled with several important events, holidays and commemorative dates, both in Ukraine and in the world.

Church holiday

On March 1, the new calendar celebrates the Day of Remembrance of St. Evdokia Iliopolskaya, which is considered the patron saint of faith and moral power. According to the old style, the believers honor the memory of Presbyter Pamphil and 11 martyrs who died for their faith. This is an important day for Christians, reminiscent of the power of spirit and willingness to victims for the truth.

Holiday in Ukraine

In Ukraine, March 1 is a day of mourning in honor of the Koriukiv tragedy of 1943, when the Hungarian troops, who fought on the side of the Third Reich, killed 6700 civilians of the village of Koryukivka, Chernihiv region and destroyed all buildings. This is a sad day in the history of our country when the victims of this tragedy are honored.

Among the prominent Ukrainians born on this day are the geologist Pavel Tutkovsky, actor Borislav Brondukov, athlete Alexander Krykun, footballer Sergei Konovalov and boxer Sergei Dzinziruk.

Holiday in the world

On March 1, they celebrate the first day of spring around the world that many people are an important and favorite holiday that brings a feeling of new beginning and joy. It is also a day when numerous international holidays are celebrated: zero discrimination Day, World Immunity Day, Sea Grass Day, Thanksgiving to employees from bosses, day off gadgets, World Prayer Day, Music Therapy Day and Compliment Day.
