The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for June 18 to consider the appeal against the sentence by which the former judge of the Babushkin District Court of Dnipro Andrii Leonov was sentenced to 11 years in prison for receiving an illegal benefit in the amount of 15,000 dollars. The Criminal Court of Cassation made this decision on February 14.
The hearing of the criminal proceedings against Leonov was scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on June 18, 2024. This information was communicated to the parties who filed a cassation appeal and other participants in the court process.
In March 2023, the High Anti-Corruption Court found the former judge of the Babushkin District Court of Dnipro guilty, sentencing him to 11 years in prison and confiscation of property. Leonov was also prohibited from holding the post of judge for 3 years after his release from prison. The Appeals Chamber upheld this decision in November of the same year. Leonov himself filed a cassation appeal.
According to the indictment, in 2018, Leonov demanded a bribe for recognizing the farm as a victim in the legal process and for a verdict that did not include a prison sentence in criminal proceedings against a person accused of raiding and forging documents.
