The border of Ukraine continues to record a high passenger flow with indicators of up to 150,000 people per day. In particular, 85% of this flow is Ukrainians, while half of them cross the border with Poland.
According to Andrii Demchenko, the spokesperson of the State Border Service of Ukraine (SPSU), passenger flow has been at a high level since December 14. The highest figure was recorded just before Christmas, when the number of people who crossed the border was 150,000 on Saturday and Sunday. However, on Christmas Day itself, the flow decreased to 68,000 people, which is due to a smaller number of people willing to travel on the holiday.
Already after the holidays, the dynamics began to grow again. Yes, two days ago, 115,000 people crossed the border, and yesterday this figure was 96,000. Demchenko also noted that there was a preference for entry into Ukraine before Christmas, and after the holidays, most people began to leave.
In total, 85% of passengers crossing the border are citizens of Ukraine. 15% are foreigners. Most people move across the border with Poland, which remains the most popular and busiest destination. This flow steadily makes up about 50% of the total number of people crossing the Ukrainian border.
These high indicators indicate the activity of Ukrainian citizens and foreigners during the holiday period, but also indicate mobility trends and the importance of border control to maintain order in these conditions.
