The Ukrainian border continues to record high passenger traffic, with figures of up to 150 thousand people per day. In particular, 85% of this flow is made up of Ukrainians, with half of them crossing the border with Poland.
According to Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Service of Ukraine (SBSU), passenger traffic has remained at a high level since December 14. The highest figure was recorded just before Christmas, when on Saturday and Sunday the number of people who crossed the border was 150 thousand. However, on Christmas Day itself, the flow decreased to 68 thousand people, which is due to a smaller number of people wishing to travel on the holiday.
After the holidays, the dynamics began to grow again. For example, two days ago, 115 thousand people crossed the border, and yesterday this figure was 96 thousand. Demchenko also noted that before Christmas there was a preference for entry into Ukraine, and after the holidays, most people began to leave.
In total, 85% of passengers crossing the border are Ukrainian citizens. 15% are foreigners. The largest number of people move across the border with Poland, which remains the most popular and busiest direction. This flow consistently accounts for about 50% of the total number of people crossing the Ukrainian border.
These high figures indicate the activity of Ukrainian citizens and foreigners during the holidays, but also indicate mobility trends and the importance of border control to maintain order in these conditions.
