The scandal involving the mass issuance of false disability certificates among prosecutors in the Khmelnytskyi region is gaining new momentum. According to official data, 16 prosecutors who had questionable medical reports have been dismissed since October 2024. However, 47 more prosecutors with disabilities continue to work, Slidstvo.Info reported in response to a request from journalists.
These figures were confirmed by the Khmelnytskyi Regional Prosecutor's Office itself:
"Currently, according to available documents, 47 prosecutors with disabilities work in the prosecutor's offices of the Khmelnytskyi region. In the period from October 1, 2024 to the present, 16 prosecutors with disabilities have been dismissed.".
Recall that in the fall of 2023, journalists and law enforcement officers exposed a massive scheme to fake disabilities, which was used by civil servants, including security forces. According to the investigation, the key role in the scheme was played by the then head of the MSEK of Khmelnytskyi region, Tetyana Krupa, and her son Oleksandr Krupa.
These certificates allowed people to avoid mobilization, keep their jobs, or receive benefits. In some cases, they referred to a third-group disability with the wording that "does not prevent the performance of official duties.".
Society still has not received answers to the main questions:
-
Who checked the medical grounds for disability of the 47 prosecutors who remained?
-
Why do some individuals continue to hold public positions after the scheme was exposed?
-
And will those who signed the fictitious documents be held accountable?
