Today, believers honor the memory of the holy prophet Obadiah. He is one of the least known biblical prophets, but his figure is associated with important events in Jewish history. According to tradition, Obadiah came from Jerusalem and lived in the 8th–6th centuries BC. Some sources call him a disciple of the prophet Elijah, others - the steward of King Ahab, who during the persecutions sheltered a hundred prophets of the Lord in caves, risking his own life.
Obadiah's prophecy reminds us of the inevitability of God's justice: evil, pride, and betrayal always return to man.
