In 2025, a pension allowance for citizens who participated in the struggle for independence of Ukraine in the XX century increased in Ukraine and was persecuted by the Soviet regime. After annual indexation, it is 5000 UAH.

These are those who have been convicted, imprisoned or forcibly sent to psychiatric institutions on political reasons, and subsequently officially rehabilitated. The legislation provides for such citizens with special social guarantees - in particular, a pension for special services to Ukraine, which is charged as a monthly supplement to the main pension payment.
The relevant law was passed in 2023. Then the amount of the allowance was 4200 UAH. However, according to the law, this amount is subject to annual review - according to the indexation mechanism. In 2024 it was indexed, and since 2025 the payment was already 5000 UAH.
In order to obtain an allowance, it is necessary to provide documents confirming the status of a person-in particular, a certificate of participation in the national liberation movement, the fact of persecution and the decision on rehabilitation.
The Pension Fund reminded that the right to a pension for special merit comes from the date of appeal or from the date of acquisition of the right, if the person has applied no later than 12 months from this point. The day of appeal is considered to be the date of acceptance of the full package of documents.
At the same time, if a person is entitled to a few grounds, they are assigned only one - in the largest amount.
This is another step in restoring justice to people who have suffered for their desire for free and independent Ukraine.
