50 years ago, the first Ukrainian electric car was created

New technologies and innovations are constantly emerging in the world of the automotive industry, but sometimes we are impressed not only by the latest achievements, but also by retro technology that emphasizes the ingenuity and talent of people from past decades. And such an example was the unique Ukrainian electric car, which was demonstrated on the Internet and impressed users with its originality.

The homemade electric car uses components from serial Soviet cars. Its interior has only one pedal and two switches.

The Vasyl Sukhomlynsky Pedagogical Memorial Museum in Pavlysh (Kirovohrad Oblast) houses an unusual exhibit – a compact electric car. It was created more than half a century ago. This is reported by the Autogeek website.

The original electric convertible was created in the 1960s or 1970s in the technical club of Pavlysky Lyceum, initiated by Vasyl Sukhomlynsky. At that time, electric cars were exclusively experimental, although ZAZ was also developing similar cars.

The homemade electric car is designed for two teenagers or one adult. Its design uses parts from production vehicles.

In particular, the electric motor was a modified starter from the Moskvich-400 (aka Opel Kadett). The car has 6-volt electrical equipment and a 96 A∙h battery.

The controls in an electric car are very simple. It has a small steering wheel, two toggle switches (starting the engine and turning on the headlights), and only one brake pedal.

The characteristics of the car are unknown, but it is noted that at one time a Ukrainian electric car drove through the streets of Pavlysh.
