A 67-year-old man has been detained in Kyiv on suspicion of poisoning his roommate over a three-month period. According to police, the crime was committed with the aim of taking possession of the woman's property, including her car and a significant amount of money.
A daring murder in the capital was solved by investigators and operatives of the Obolon Police Department together with the criminal investigation officers of the capital's main police department.
The man lived with the woman for about 15 years, during the last three months of which he poisoned her with chemicals, adding them to her food and drinks. After the woman's death, the attacker tried to take over her apartment, and when he failed, he took the deceased's car and about $20,000 and moved to the Volyn region
It is indicated that the capital's law enforcement officers detained a 67-year-old man.
During a search of the apartment, investigators reportedly seized money, the victim's bank card, her Suzuki car, documents, and a plastic container with a loose substance, which was sent for examination.
The investigator informed the detainee of suspicion of committing premeditated murder for selfish motives and illegal possession of a vehicle.
At the request of the investigators, the court chose a preventive measure for the defendant in the form of detention without alternative, he faces life imprisonment.
