A batch of fresh pomegranates of Turkish origin was imported into Ukraine, in which excessive pesticide content exceeding permissible norms was detected. The total amount of contaminated fruit is 8,400 kg.
The Main Directorate of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Kyiv reported that the products entered the country under customs control, but upon inspection it was found that they did not meet the requirements of Ukrainian legislation on food safety. As a result, the grenades were withdrawn from circulation and destroyed to prevent their sale.
The state inspector of the border inspection control department “Kyiv” took part in the destruction of a dangerous batch of Turkish pomegranates. The products, which contained an excessive level of pesticides, were detected during an inspection conducted at the customs. As a result of the violations, the pomegranates were not allowed for sale.
The State Food and Consumer Protection Service drew attention to the importance of complying with food safety requirements, emphasizing that unsafe products should not enter the market.
Recently, a dangerous batch of Turkish pomegranates containing pesticides in excess of the permissible levels was discovered in Ukraine. A total of 8,400 kg of such products were seized. After a customs inspection, the products were destroyed with the participation of relevant inspectors.
The State Food and Consumer Protection Service called on market operators to carefully comply with food safety requirements in order to prevent dangerous goods from being sold.
