In Lviv, on the territory of the garden cooperative "Troyanda" at 17 Bigova Street, explosive objects were found during earthworks on June 14. The ammunition probably remained from the Second World War.
As reported by the Civil Defense Department of the Lviv Regional Emergency Management Agency, a dangerous find was discovered while digging a trench just five meters from a residential building.
Initially, four 76 mm artillery shells were found. A special demining unit arrived at the site and conducted an additional survey of the area. As a result of the search, the number of ammunition found increased to 83.
Due to the scale and complexity of the work, the sappers did not have time to complete the demining in one day - the operation to neutralize the shells will continue on June 15.
The area is currently being guarded, and residents are urged to be careful, avoid areas where ammunition has been discovered, and not attempt to move it on their own.
Such cases are a reminder that even decades later, war continues to pose a threat to the civilian population. Lviv is one of the regions where such finds are still not uncommon.
