Despite the high level of corruption in Ukraine, the real experience of citizens has decreased significantly over the last decade. According to the corruption in Ukraine 2024, 91.4% of Ukrainians consider corruption widespread, but only 18.7% personally faced it in 2023.
How did the situation change?
Back in 2015, 70.7%of Ukrainians had corruption experience, 27%in 2020, and in 2023-18.7%.
- In medicine, corruption has fallen from 70% to 28.5%.
- In education-up to 12-15%.
- In administrative services - up to 3.8%.
A similar trend is observed in Europe. For example, in Portugal, only 1% of citizens had experience in corruption, but 96% consider it widespread. In Finland, this figure is 3% against 18%, in Sweden - 3% against 50%.
In the world index of Transparency International Corruption, Ukraine ranks 105th, significantly inferior to Slovenia (36th place), Portugal (43) and Cyprus (46).
