Ukrainian customs officers have uncovered an attempt to illegally import an expensive car under the guise of humanitarian aid at the border with Poland. The incident occurred at the Shehyny-Medika checkpoint.
During customs control, law enforcement officers checked the documents for a 2022 BMW X5, which was being tried to be imported into Ukraine as humanitarian cargo.

During the inspection, it turned out that the car actually does not correspond to the declared status of humanitarian aid. Its estimated cost exceeds 2 million hryvnias.
Customs officers stopped the attempted import of the vehicle and recorded a violation of customs rules. All circumstances of the incident and the persons involved in the possible illegal registration of the vehicle are currently being established.
Law enforcement officers note that using humanitarian aid status to import expensive goods is one of the common schemes for avoiding customs duties.
