On Tuesday, April 29, a serious road accident involving an intercity bus with 26 people on board, including Ukrainian citizens, occurred near Warsaw's Frederic Chopin Airport. The incident occurred at the exit from the S2 motorway onto the S7 motorway.
According to the Polish publication Miejski Reporter , the bus hit the energy-absorbing barriers on a sharp bend, after which it fell on its side. Rescuers and medics immediately arrived at the scene. People were evacuated from the vehicle, some of them were given first aid right on the spot.
"The bus, which was entering the S7, went off the road, crashed into a fence and overturned on its side. We evacuated the passengers and provided assistance," said Lukasz Wujek, a representative of the National Fire Service of Poland.
New accident during rescue operation
While the rescue efforts were underway, another incident occurred. A truck crashed into a volunteer fire department (OSP) vehicle parked in the service lane. The drivers of both vehicles were injured, as well as one rescuer. All were taken to the hospital.
A total of 16 people were injured
Jacek Dobrzynski, spokesman for the Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration, confirmed that 16 people were taken to hospitals, including a child.
"The situation has been brought under control. 16 people were taken to the hospital, including one child. Among the injured are 12 bus passengers, a truck driver, an OSP driver, and a rescuer," Dobrzynski noted in his post on the X .
According to Polish services, the condition of the two victims is assessed as serious.
