An investigation into a high-profile murder is underway in the Kyiv region. A 54-year-old resident of Irpin is suspected of premeditated murder of her husband (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office reports.
According to the investigation, the tragedy occurred in the couple's apartment during a domestic conflict, which was accompanied by mutual insults and aggression. According to the suspect, the quarrel escalated due to the husband's alleged pro-Russian views and his ties to relatives from the aggressor country. The woman claims that the husband repeatedly threatened her and used physical violence, including twisting her arms.
While cooking, the conflict flared up again. During an emotional fight, the woman stabbed the man in the chest with a kitchen knife several times. The 70-year-old victim died before the ambulance arrived. The woman herself called the doctors and the police.
After the arrest under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the suspect was informed of the suspicion. The court, at the request of the prosecutor's office, chose a preventive measure - detention.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers are verifying all the circumstances of the incident and the reliability of the suspect's words regarding possible previous domestic violence and the motives for the crime.
