A large-scale anti-corruption special operation took place in Transcarpathia: dozens of suspicions, millions in waste

On the morning of July 31, a simultaneous large-scale special operation took place in Uzhhorod and other settlements of Transcarpathia, in which several law enforcement agencies took part: the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Prosecutor's Office, the police, the BEB, and the USR.

As journalist Vitaliy Glagola reported, citing his own sources in law enforcement agencies, from 7:00 to 10:00, dozens of people were served with suspicions in criminal proceedings, mainly under articles on embezzlement of budget funds and abuse of office.

Among those involved are officials, doctors, utility workers, cultural figures, and heads of private companies:

  • The former director of the Transcarpathian Regional Theater of Music is suspected of embezzling UAH 959,000 on salaries and equipment.

  • Chief specialist of Uzhhorod Multidisciplinary Hospital — UAH 549,000 in losses from fictitious charges.

  • Head of the department of the same hospital — 508 thousand UAH disappeared during the purchase of an uninterruptible power supply.

  • The head of the department of the municipal enterprise “Vodokanal of Uzhhorod” is suspected of embezzling UAH 708,000 for chlorine coagulant.

  • Director of the regional philharmonic society - abuse of office, losses - 247 thousand UAH.

  • Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the City Council - forgery of a conclusion for a plot worth 966 thousand UAH.

  • City Council official and head of Perspektyva KT LLC - losses during the construction of the base amount to 4.1 million UAH.

  • Assistant to the head of the regional State Emergency Service - purchases of equipment with inflated prices, losses - 951 thousand UAH.

  • The head of the company “Artembud” is suspected of embezzling UAH 1.6 million during the repair of a street in the village of Mynay.

According to Glagola, this is not a one-time episode, but a long-standing systemic abuse that has only now become the subject of law enforcement actions. The journalist claims to have copies of official case materials, including suspicions, audit conclusions, and budget documents.

He noted that this is just the beginning, and the list of individuals against whom law enforcement officers have claims is not yet exhausted. Further details are expected to be released.

The scale of the special operation suggests a possible coordinated "cleaning up" of corruption ties in the region or even an attempt to redistribute influence in Uzhhorod amid the intensification of the political struggle on the eve of the autumn season.

At the same time, the suspicions themselves, according to sources, appear to be sufficiently well-founded and supported by documents.
