A man was detained in Kyiv for stealing 300,000 hryvnias from a woman he met through a dating site. After the theft, he ordered a taxi and went to Odessa. The incident was reported to the Kyiv police.
As law enforcement officers found out, the woman met a 30-year-old man online. He later moved in with her. However, a month later, the roommate disappeared - he didn't return home in the evening, stopped answering calls, and all of the housekeeper's savings disappeared from the apartment.
"We established that the attacker took 300 thousand hryvnias, called a taxi and went to the city of Odessa. Thanks to the coordinated work of the police, we detained him the next day. Part of the money was withdrawn, the rest was spent on a taxi and his own needs," said Ihor Padiuk, head of the Shevchenkivskyi Police Department.
The detainee has already been informed of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - theft committed under martial law. He faces up to eight years in prison.
The court chose a preventive measure - detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 302,800 hryvnias.
