The body of a 64-year-old man, a resident of Rivne region, who had come to the region to inspect a tractor, was found in the Uman district of Cherkasy region, the Criminal Investigation Department of the National Police reports.
According to the investigation, the deceased had almost 300 thousand hryvnias with him. During a meeting with his 21-year-old acquaintance to inspect equipment, the young man attacked the man, inflicted numerous blows to the head with a wrench, wrapped the body in a blanket and threw it into a forest strip. After that, the attacker took the victim's money and phone and fled the region.
Thanks to the operational actions of the police, the suspect was detained in the Odessa region. He is charged with premeditated murder for selfish motives, which carries a sentence of 10 to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment. He is currently in custody.
