A trial will begin in Kyiv against a man who, according to investigators, raped and killed a 69-year-old pensioner. The crime occurred in August 2024 in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the city, where the woman's body was found in a green zone. As an examination later established, the victim was not only strangled, but also raped, causing her numerous injuries to her internal organs.
According to the press service of the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, the man faces a sentence of 15 years in prison or life imprisonment. As investigators established, the pensioner had a meeting with an acquaintance who was convicted of rape and theft in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea in 2005. After the man was released earlier, he again embarked on the path of crime.
The incident occurred when the suspect invited the woman on a date, gave her flowers, bought her groceries at the market, and treated her to alcohol. During a nature vacation, a conflict arose between them, during which he raped the woman and then strangled her. After committing the crime, the man covered her body with a blanket and fled home.
The case was completed, and the indictment was sent to the court for consideration on the merits.
