In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers have detained a 25-year-old resident of the region, suspected of brutally beating a serviceman. The victim, a 42-year-old man who was undergoing rehabilitation after service, is currently in serious condition in intensive care.
As reported by the press service of the Lviv region police, the incident occurred on December 12 in a village in Yavoriv district near a local store. A conflict arose between two men, which quickly escalated into physical violence. The younger man struck the victim several times in the head, causing serious bodily injuries.
Doctors diagnosed the soldier with a subdural hemorrhage. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was hospitalized in the intensive care unit, where he is under constant medical supervision.
The regional prosecutor's office clarified that the argument began in the store. The cause of the conflict was a remark that the soldier made to the suspect's friend. After that, the aggressor began the attack, and the victim himself tried to avoid the fight.
Despite this, the attacker continued to punch the soldier even when he was already lying on the ground. According to the investigation, after the beating, the attacker behaved defiantly and cynically - he filmed the wounded man on his phone, mocking him and asking how he "felt" and whether he had any "complaints."
The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. He was informed of suspicion of intentional grievous bodily harm. The sanction of this article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
