ARMA detectives reported the discovery of a large-scale scheme to embezzle budget funds allocated for road repairs. The losses caused to the state are estimated at 1.4 billion hryvnias. According to the investigation, officials and owners of private companies organized a multi-level scheme that operated since May 2020.
Information about the stolen funds was the result of a request from law enforcement agencies, after which the ARMA Asset Detection and Tracing Department, using access to databases, found assets belonging to companies involved in this scheme.
During the investigation, 1.4 billion hryvnias were discovered in the accounts of contractors, as well as 115 units of special equipment, 80 vehicles, shares in the authorized capitals of enterprises in the amount of 788 thousand UAH, as well as real estate and land plots.
"Information about the identified assets has already been transferred to the law enforcement agency. At the same time, I would like to note that ARMA is ready to ensure revenue to the budget through the effective management of these assets in the event of their arrest and transfer to the National Agency," said Deputy Head of ARMA Pavlo Velikorechanin .
