In Cherkasy region, a mother threw her newborn daughter into the trash

A tragedy occurred in Cherkasy region that shook the local community. In the village of Bilousivka, Zolotonish district, a 25-year-old woman gave birth to a child on her own, and later put her newborn daughter in a bag and threw it in a trash can. The baby did not survive.

A garbage collector reported the gruesome discovery. The man discovered the body of a baby in a plastic bag. Law enforcement officers were called to the scene and opened a pre-trial investigation.

“The woman was not registered with doctors and gave birth at home. After giving birth, she decided to get rid of the child, putting it in a bag and leaving it in the trash,” the Cherkasy region police report.

The body of the newborn girl was sent for forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death. According to the investigation, the woman acted independently and did not seek medical help.

The case was classified under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - intentional murder by a mother of her newborn child. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of restriction of liberty or imprisonment for a term of up to five years.

The local community is shocked by this incident. Residents of Bilousivka claim that they did not suspect that the woman was pregnant, and also note that she had not had similar problems before. This tragedy once again raises the issue of social support for mothers in crisis situations. Insufficient awareness, fear of condemnation or lack of help can push women to take fatal steps.

Law enforcement officers urge citizens to be attentive to others, especially in small communities, where timely support and assistance are important.
