Operatives of the Volyn Border Guard Unit, together with detectives of the Bureau of Economic Security in the Volyn region, have uncovered a large-scale scheme for the illegal import of clothing from China to Ukraine. This was reported by the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service.
According to the investigation, the organizer of the scheme was a resident of Lutsk, registered as an individual entrepreneur. She organized the systematic movement of Chinese-made goods across the state border without customs clearance.
Drivers and passengers who indicated in their declarations that they were transporting personal belongings were involved in the transportation of goods. They received monetary compensation for such “assistance.”
After illegal importation, the clothes were delivered to a store in one of the shopping centers in Lutsk, where they were sold. The entrepreneur used the funds received to purchase new batches of goods.
Investigators determined that the total value of illegally imported clothing exceeds 8.3 million hryvnias.
The entrepreneur was reported as being suspected of:
-
Part 1 of Article 201-3 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (smuggling of goods),
-
Part 1 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (legalization of proceeds of crime).
The indictment has already been sent to court.
