On Sunday, January 12, a scandal erupted in the Obolonskyi district of Kyiv over the refusal to serve a Ukrainian serviceman at the Noice restaurant. According to the restaurant's security, this instruction was given by the restaurant owner.
The soldier who reported the incident said that he went to the restaurant in the evening to drink coffee, but was stopped by security at the entrance. An employee of the establishment confirmed that the management has banned serving soldiers, even if they are sober and do not violate the rules of conduct.
In the video provided by the soldier, the restaurant employee says:
“With all due respect, I was forbidden to serve (the soldier. – Ed.).”
Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and determined that the soldier had not violated the law. However, according to the victim, this is not the first time the restaurant management has shown disrespect for Ukrainian defenders.
According to the serviceman, the restaurant's co-owner, Turkish citizen Ayhan Ozdemir, uses the premises as an office for personal meetings, constantly communicates in Russian, and calls the police every time the servicemen enter the establishment.
It also became known that the restaurant's director Ruslan and manager Inna support the decision to ban serving military personnel.
The incident sparked a wave of outrage among Ukrainians, with many social media users calling for a boycott of the Noice restaurant and an investigation into the activities of its management.
At the time of publication, the restaurant had not provided an official comment on the situation.
This situation once again raises questions about the attitude of businesses towards the military who defend Ukraine. The incident at the Noice restaurant became a high-profile example of how individual business owners can disregard moral principles and social responsibility.
