The Shevchenko District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv has completed the pre-trial investigation and submitted to the court an indictment against a woman suspected of attempting to influence state bodies for corrupt purposes.
According to the investigation, the accused offered a conscript, who was wanted for failing a military medical examination (MMA), to help him get off the military register. She estimated her services at 4,000 US dollars.
At the same time, the woman convinced the client that the issue would be resolved not in Kyiv, but in another region, where the man was supposed to undergo a formal medical examination. In addition, she promised to facilitate the booking of a conscript — for an additional, higher amount.
While transferring the agreed amount, the woman was detained by law enforcement officers under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. At the request of the prosecutor's office, all of her property — both movable and immovable — was seized.
Her actions are classified under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - obtaining unlawful benefit with the aim of influencing the decision of an official.
The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years with confiscation of property.
Operational support for the case was provided by the Internal Security Department of the National Police, and the pre-trial investigation was conducted by investigators from the Shevchenko Police Department of Kyiv.
