A fire broke out in the village of Ivanivka in Mykolaiv Oblast, which could have turned into a tragedy if not for the courage of 16-year-old Dmytro. The young man, risking his life, carried his younger brother Vladislav, who was only eight years old, out of the burning house.
The State Emergency Service reported this. Mother of six children, Lyudmila Amalska, was in the yard when she smelled smoke.
Her children were still asleep. The youngest son, Vladyk, was in the greatest danger—thick smoke quickly filled the house, making it almost impossible to find him. Lyudmila tried to save her son, but couldn’t because of the smoke.
Hearing his mother's screams, 16-year-old Dmytro rushed into the burning house without hesitation. He groped for his brother and carried him out in his arms. Despite the thick smoke and danger, the boy handed Vladyka over to his mother, who immediately provided him with first aid.
But the brave young man didn't stop there. Together with his other brother, Kirill, he tried to put out the fire before the rescuers arrived, saving the house for his large family.
Vladislav received burns and is currently being treated in Mykolaiv. He underwent surgery, but doctors are hopeful for his speedy recovery. Dmytro speaks warmly about his brother.
“The lord is very kind and obedient. I feel very sorry for him, but I believe that he will recover quickly and we will be together again,” the teenager said.

Rescuers recognized Dmytro's bravery by giving the family valuables and giving the children treats. The family is temporarily staying with relatives, and neighbors are helping them rebuild the house after the fire.
