Any advertising of gambling and bookmakers is officially prohibited in Ukraine. The relevant Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 583 was adopted on May 21, 2024.
These restrictions will remain in effect until the new law on combating gambling addiction comes into force.
“To amend paragraph 1 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated May 17, 2024 No. 566 “Some issues of countering the negative consequences of the functioning of gambling on the Internet”, by supplementing subparagraph 1 after the words “procedure for restriction” with the words “all forms”, and after the words “by means of restriction” with the words “namely prohibitions””, the resolution states.
By the amended resolution of May 17, the Cabinet of Ministers established the procedure for restricting advertising of gambling, as well as other designations under which gambling is conducted, in particular using electronic communications, symbols of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the distribution of relevant contextual material.
The draft law on combating gambling addiction is currently under consideration in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
The Verkhovna Rada approved in the first reading a bill on the liquidation of the Commission for the Regulation of Gambling and Lotteries and strengthening control over the gambling business.
The law restricts gambling advertising, in particular it does not allow speculation on the topic of war and volunteering, and it also prohibits sponsorship.
