Yaremche Mayor Andriy Myronyak has been in the spotlight after a journalistic investigation into his family's wealth, businesses, and lifestyle. According to the publications, the journalists documented an estate, a hotel, a sawmill, luxury cars, and roads leading to the mayor's residence; his 2024 tax return listed over 20 million hryvnias in income for his wife and about 545,000 hryvnias in salary for Myronyak himself.
Immediately after this publication, the head of the community went on a working visit to Italy, where he held an official meeting with representatives of the city of Soverato, which caused additional public resonance and discussion on social networks about the official's behavior during a full-scale war. In parallel, the Yaremche City Council announced the opening of an official representation of the community in Brussels, which is located in the premises of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union. According to the City Council, the work of the representation should contribute to the development of the community and its European integration processes, and the office will be staffed by the mayor's assistant for international and European affairs Anastasia Todoruk.
In April 2025, according to the city council and the public procurement database, Todoruk won a tender for representation and consulting services for the development of the Yaremche community for almost 100 thousand hryvnias. Since the contract amount did not exceed 100 thousand hryvnias, the procurement was carried out without using the ProZorro electronic system, that is, without competition in an open tender. According to open registers, Anastasia Todoruk also heads the public organization "INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY", registered in Dnipro.
These facts have raised a number of questions among the public and journalists: is there a conflict of interest in a situation where the person who will later work in the same representation as the mayor's assistant became the provider of services related to the representation abroad, and is the initiative not part of a PR campaign after the publication of the investigation into the family fortune. The city council indicates its intention to develop international ties and points to prospects for the community, while public activists and some journalists draw attention to the timing and procurement procedures.
There are currently few official statements from the mayor on these issues in the public space - the mayor was on a trip, and the city council is commenting on the benefits of the European presence for the community. At the same time, public procurement experts and lawyers remind that in order to avoid risks of conflict of interest and doubts about the transparency of procedures, it is important to publicly explain the procedure for selecting contractors and the justification for direct agreements.
