Counterintelligence of the Security Service of Ukraine disrupted an attempt by Russian special services to steal secret military documentation. As a result of the special operation in the Odessa region, a 47-year-old engineer was detained, who worked at the FSB of the Russian Federation and tried to transfer critical data on the latest Ukrainian developments to the enemy.
According to the SBU, the agent got a defense enterprise in order to obtain access to the drawings and technologies of production of spare parts for military auto equipment. However, from the first days of work, his activity was under close control of counterintelligence, which at the stage of recruitment recorded his connections with Russian curators.
The spy not only collected secret drawings, but also performed the task of exploring the positions of the air defense. He moved the area, seeking the locations of Ukrainian air defense and radar systems to adjust the enemy fire.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized photos of technical documentation from the person preparing to hand over to the Russian side, as well as other evidence of his agent activity.
Currently, the traitor has been suspected under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason, committed in the conditions of martial law). He is in custody. The sanction of the article provides for life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The Security Service stressed that measures to neutralize the FSB agent networks are ongoing in all regions of Ukraine.
