According to the Odessa region police, the tragedy occurred in May in one of the apartments on Shevchenko Avenue. A 45-year-old man, returning home and finding his wife with a glass of vodka, forbade her to drink. In response, his common-law wife grabbed a knife and stabbed the man in the stomach.
After the incident, the woman went to bed, and the victim went to the emergency room a few hours later. Doctors hospitalized the man and reported the patient to the police. Unfortunately, he died the next day. According to the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, death occurred as a result of a stab wound to the abdomen with damage to the omentum and mesentery of the small and large intestines, complicated by the development of hemorrhagic shock.
The offender was detained at her residence and the knife used to cause the injury was seized. During the pre-trial investigation, she confessed to the crime. The woman was charged under Part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional bodily harm, life-threatening, resulting in the death of the victim.
The court, having examined the evidence provided, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to seven years in prison.
