As of early July 2024, 43.4% of Ukrainian pensioners receive pensions of less than 4 thousand hryvnias.
Only 12.5% can boast of payments exceeding 10 thousand hryvnias. This information was published by the Pension Fund of Ukraine.
General indicators
According to the Fund, there are 10.26 million pensioners in Ukraine, and the average pension is 5,816.6 hryvnias. The distribution of pension payments is as follows:
- Less than 3,000 UAH – 26.1% of pensioners
- 3001-4000 UAH – 17,3%
- 4001-5000 UAH – 18,6%
- 5001-10000 UAH – 25,5%
- More than 10,000 UAH – 12,5%
These figures indicate significant inequality in payments.
Regional differences
According to information from the Pension Fund, the largest pensions are received by residents of the capital and several regions:
- Kyiv – average pension 7,949.2 UAH
- Rivne region – 7,255 UAH
- Donetsk region – 7,137.78 UAH
The smallest pensions are recorded in the Ternopil region , where the average amount is only 4,436.4 UAH.
As of early July 2024, the pension situation in Ukraine remains alarming. The majority of pensioners receive payments at the poverty line, while only a small proportion are able to live at a decent standard of living. This highlights the need for reforms in the pension system and social policy to ensure a decent life for Ukrainian elderly citizens.
