Almost half of Ukrainians save on food

The economic situation in Ukraine, caused by the war, high inflation, and rising costs of goods and services, is forcing many citizens to cut spending on basic needs.

One of the biggest and most painful aspects is food costs. According to the Razumkov Center, almost half of Ukrainians are forced to save on food, choosing cheaper options, which leads to a difficult financial situation for the population.

At the same time, there are those who try to maintain the quality of their products, despite the high cost.

Yes, during wartime, the number of those struggling to make ends meet also increased.

If in 2021, 9% of Ukrainians answered that they did not have enough money even for necessary products, then in September 2024, this number was already 12%.

The number of people who believe they live quite well, but large purchases such as an apartment or a car remain out of their reach, is also growing (from 6% to 9%).

At the same time, the number of those who generally have enough to live on, but who find it difficult to buy furniture, a refrigerator, or a TV, has decreased (from 44% to 41%). Thus, there are more and more families in the country who have switched to austerity, even if they previously considered their situation stable.
