An illegal cryptocurrency farm equipped at a utility company was exposed in the Chernihiv region

Law enforcement officers in Chernihiv region have uncovered a serious case of corruption and abuse involving a utility company. According to the National Police of Ukraine, an official, together with accomplices, organized an illegal cryptocurrency mining farm on the territory of the utility company.

According to police, the director of the KP, using his position, created a hidden cascade of video cards, disguised as an elevator, and arbitrarily connected it to the company's electrical network. This equipment was actively used for cryptocurrency mining, which brought the official a profit of about $ 1,300 per month. Thus, the utility suffered significant financial losses due to electricity theft.

In addition, the official organized a scheme to enrich himself by renting out premises. It was established that the rental prices were artificially lowered by 10-15 times, which allowed him to receive additional profit at the expense of the enterprise.

After conducting searches, police found a number of pieces of evidence confirming the illegal operation of a cryptocurrency farm and a money-making scheme. Several officials of the utility company are involved in the case, and they face up to six years in prison for the crimes committed.
