In the area of the border village of Komarivka, Shostka district, Sumy region, the so-called “gray” zone has significantly expanded. Its area has increased from 1.98 to 5.98 square kilometers.
This is reported by analysts who monitor the situation on the front and along the state border. According to their data, recently there has been an increase in the activity of Russian small infantry groups along the Ukrainian border. The occupiers are taking advantage of the opportunity to enter the territory of the settlement, trying to gain a foothold in the area and destabilize the situation in the border area.
Analysts say that Russian troops are actually probing the defenses, testing the possibilities of expanding the zone of control and scaling up this tactic. According to them, a similar scenario has already occurred in the Grabovskoye area, where the enemy managed to gain a foothold.
The Ukrainian Defense Forces are trying to respond promptly to the appearance of enemy infantry groups, detect them and destroy them. However, as noted, due to a number of objective problems on certain sections of the border, this is not always possible.
Osinter also notes that the number of such “gray” zones along the Ukrainian-Russian border is growing. However, in many cases, Ukrainian defenders still manage to thwart attempts by Russian troops to penetrate at the initial stage and eliminate the invaders before they can consolidate.
