Ukrainian football player and coach of the Russian club "Zenit" Anatoly Tymoshchuk managed to cancel the decision of the Ukrainian Football Association to strip him of all titles and awards. This is reported by the Ukrainian mass media with reference to court documents.
As reported by the Ukrainian publication "Tribune", the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne satisfied the appeal of former football player Anatoly Tymoshchuk against the decision of the UAF disciplinary committee.
The 45-year-old coach of St. Petersburg "Zenit" demanded that sanctions be lifted from him, which were imposed due to the continuation of his work in the Russian Federation.
In March 2022, the UAF stripped him of all titles, his coaching license and removed him from the official national team register for life.
Tymoshchuk appealed to the CAS in 2023, the hearing of the case began in April 2024. So far, the court has canceled the decision of the Ukrainian football authorities.
The CAS justified its decision by the fact that in the period from the beginning of the full-scale invasion until March 11, 2022, Tymoshchuk did not commit any actions that would have required such disciplinary sanctions to be taken against him.
The CAS decision was commented on by the UAF.
"UAF really already received a decision from CAS. Unfortunately, the Europeans approached this matter as formally as possible and confirmed their partial misunderstanding of the realities in which we live. The position of the Ukrainian football community is unambiguous and has never changed. Someone like Tymoshchuk has no place in Ukrainian football," the UAF said.
Tymoshchuk has been working as an assistant to the head coach in the Zenit coaching staff since 2017.
