The winner of the "Golden Ball-2004" became the sixth president of the UAF in history, succeeding Andriy Pavelek in this position. The election of the president of the association was the third item on the agenda of the XXVI UAF Congress, where Shevchenko was the unopposed candidate.
Congress delegates supported the proposal to recognize the end of the term of office of the predecessor of the new UAF president, Andriy Pavelko. 93 delegates voted for Shevchenko, one more abstained from voting.
Andriy Shevchenko is known as a famous football player and coach. A native of Kyiv Oblast, he started his career in Kyiv "Dynamo", and then played for such clubs as "Milan" and "Chelsea". Shevchenko also played for the Ukrainian national team, playing in 111 matches and scoring 48 goals.
After the end of his playing career, Shevchenko worked as a coach , leading the national team of Ukraine. Under his leadership, the team reached the quarter-finals of Euro-2020. Currently, he takes responsibility for the leadership of the country's football association.
