Anti-corruption authorities of Ukraine have approached the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court with a request to choose a preventive measure for Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Chernyshov. NABU and SAPO are asking the court to set bail in the amount of 120 million hryvnias, as well as temporarily suspend the official from performing his duties.
In addition, prosecutors are demanding a number of restrictions. In particular, Chernyshov may be prohibited from communicating with witnesses and other persons involved in the case, from leaving the settlement without permission, and also be required to surrender all foreign passports, wear an electronic bracelet, and regularly appear for summons to the investigator.
The court hearing of the motion is scheduled for today at 9:00 a.m. If the court satisfies the demands of the SAPO and NABU, Chernyshov will have five days to pay the bail amount.
NABU emphasizes that the amount of bail was formed taking into account the risks, the nature of the case, as well as current judicial practice. The body also took into account that Chernyshov arrived at the detectives on his own and did not avoid investigative actions.
Law enforcement officials are not disclosing details of the suspicion at this time, but note that the case involves high-level corruption. The introduction of preventive measures could be a key stage in the investigation.
