AP VAKS confirms the bail of Mykytas in the amount of 908 thousand hryvnias in the case of theft of 312 million of the Ministry of Defense

The VAKS appeal confirmed the decision to bail Mykytas in the amount of 908,000 hryvnias. He contributed this amount, being a suspect in the theft of 312 million hryvnias during the construction of defense structures.

The SAP prosecutor offered to increase the amount of bail to 21 million hryvnias, but the defense objected, claiming that Mykytasyu does not have the financial means to post bail. Earlier, VAKS released him from house arrest, noting that keeping him under arrest for more than six months is unacceptable. Instead, bail in the amount of 908,000 hryvnias and a number of obligations were set, including handing in foreign passports and wearing an electronic bracelet.

According to the investigation materials, in 2018 the Ministry of Defense ordered the construction of protected warehouses for the storage of missiles and ammunition of the Armed Forces of Ukraine from the Mykytas company. During November-December 2018, the Ministry of Defense transferred over UAH 312 million to the businessman's accounts. However, the construction of the warehouse was not started, and the allocated funds were transferred to the accounts of other controlled companies. In this, Mykytas was assisted by the first deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

On November 6, 2023, VAKS ordered Mykytas under house arrest. On January 24, 2024, NABU and SAP completed the investigation against ex-Nardeput Maksym Mykytas and former first deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces.

This is not the first criminal case against the former deputy. On October 18, 2022, Maksym Mykytas was detained at the request of the mayor of Dnipro, Boris Filatov. He claims that the ex-Deputy developer offered him 22 million euros for the participation of certain companies in the construction of the metro in Dnipro. On July 11, the High Anti-Korsud Court extended his arrest for attempting to bribe the mayor of Dnipro, Boris Filatov. The deposit was reduced from UAH 40 to UAH 20 million.

Also, at the beginning of October 2019, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau served Maksym Mykytas with suspicion of appropriating the property of the National Guard in the amount of approximately UAH 82 million. The investigation established that the former head of "Ukrbud" organized a corruption scheme to take over the real estate of the National Guard.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced a year ago that the frozen construction of housing complexes of the Ukrbud corporation will be completed by the Kyivmiskbud company. As for Mykytas, in May 2020, he and the ex-commander of the National Guard were charged with suspicion, and since December 2 of this year, he has been under 24-hour house arrest because he cooperated with the investigation.
