The pilot project "Apartments for IDPs" has been launched in the capital, which provides temporary housing for internally displaced persons in apartments that were arrested and transferred to state management. The initiative is being implemented by the National Tracing and Asset Management Agency (ARMA) together with the Kyiv City Military Administration (KMMA).
At the initial stage, 10 residential facilities have been prepared in Kyiv, which will soon be handed over for settlement by displaced people. These are people who lost their homes as a result of the full-scale war and are seeking temporary shelter in the capital.
In the future, it is planned to scale the project to other regions of Ukraine and form a transparent model for managing such housing to make the process systemic and long-term.
"We have moved from a pilot launch to full-fledged implementation of the project. In times of war, seized property should work for the state and for people who have lost their homes," ARMA said.
Currently, coordination of mechanisms is underway, including the competitive selection of residential property managers, the conclusion of contracts, and the settlement of issues of payment for accommodation.
This project became the first socially oriented case within the framework of cooperation between ARMA and KMVA. The Ministry of Community Development, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine also joined in its implementation. In total, the initiative plans to transfer up to 200 apartments throughout Ukraine for the needs of internally displaced persons.
