Famous Ukrainian actress Rita Burkovska announced that she has joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She announced her decision on Instagram, sharing that she has been engaged in media activities since the beginning of the full-scale war, but now she felt that the time has come to take on more responsibility. Burkovska has already taken the oath and is ready to defend Ukraine on the battlefield.
"I took the oath. So, I joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. You probably know that I am an actress. For the last 2.5 years, I have been working with the media. We have done a lot of useful things and important stories. I have learned a lot from the best journalists. These skills will not disappear. But it is time to take on more responsibility, and I do it with joy," the actress wrote.
Burkovska noted that, of course, she would like to continue her acting career, act in films, relax and do personal things, but she believes that now is not the time. She is confident that she will still have time to return to cinema after Ukraine's victory.
"I'm glad I finally made this decision and have the honor to serve among the best. I also really want to act in movies, hang out, do my own thing, but right now is not the time," she added.
Rita Burkowska gained fame after her leading role in the film "The Butterfly's Vision," which tells the story of an air reconnaissance woman with the call sign "Butterfly." For this role, the actress received the "Best European Actress" award at the Septimius Awards ceremony in 2023 in the Netherlands.
Burkovska is convinced that her decision to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine is an important contribution to this historical time, when the fight for the freedom and independence of Ukraine is a priority for all citizens.
