Arrhythmia is a common name for a number of cardiac rhythm disorders that can be both moderate and potentially deadly. In the early stage, these conditions can manifest in no obvious symptoms: chest pain, sudden weakness, dizziness, or decreased pressure. A cardiologist told this in an interview.
Arrhythmias are not just an uneven heartbeat. They include conditions such as extrasystole, tachycardia, atrial fibrillation and atrial trembling. All these forms disrupt the normal functioning of the myocardium and can be a prerequisite for heart attack, stroke or thromboembolism.
Varieties of arrhythmia and their manifestations
-
Extrasystole. It is characterized by sharp thoracic shocks or the feeling that the heart "fades" for a moment. Sometimes there is no heartbeat due to sudden contractions.
-
Tachycardia. In such cases, the person feels tremor in the chest, rapid heartbeat even at rest.
-
Atrial fibrillation. The rhythm becomes chaotic: it accelerates, then slows down. The heart works unevenly, as if losing its usual synchronicity.
The cardiologist notes that people with cardiac pathologies, congenital heart defects or those who have cases of sudden death in the family should be particularly attentive to the symptoms.
When should you be alarmed
In the early stages, arrhythmia can be accompanied by the following features:
-
chest pain;
-
dyspnea;
-
sudden weakness;
-
reduction of blood pressure;
-
dizziness;
-
short -term loss of consciousness.
According to the specialist, at the age of 40+, it is necessary to monitor these symptoms especially carefully, because over the years the risk of developing cardiovascular disease increases.
