Men in Ukraine aged 18 to 60 are required to follow the rules of military registration. This is especially true during mobilization. Lawyer Lidia Karplyuk from Attorneys at Law “Leshchenko, Doroshenko & Partners” explained what data must be reported and under what conditions a fine may be imposed.
What needs to be updated?
Conscripts, military conscripts, and reservists must notify the military registration authorities within seven days of the changes:
- Marital status (marriage, divorce, etc.);
- Address of residence or stay;
- Phone numbers and email;
- A new job or education.
Information can be transmitted through ASCs or electronic systems .
When can there be a fine?
Violation of these rules is subject to administrative liability under Article 210 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses. However, the imposition of a fine depends on the availability of state registers that can automatically retrieve information.
“If the data is already in the state register, the fine does not apply,” explains Lidia Karplyuk.
For example, if your employer has notified the tax service about your new position, you do not have to provide this data to the military authorities again.
What about registers?
In Ukraine, there is currently no centralized database for:
- Phone numbers or email addresses;
- Temporary changes in health status (unless it is a disability).
Because of this, the lack of updated information may be considered a violation.
What should be done?
To avoid fines:
- Update data through official channels within seven days;
- Check whether the information is already available in the relevant registers;
- Notify of changes in advance, if possible.
Does a fine give a deferment from mobilization?
Lawyers explain that receiving a fine does not exempt you from military service.
The Ukrainian army continues to mobilize, and compliance with military registration rules remains a key aspect for citizens. To avoid problems, it is important to be responsible in updating your data.
