On September 4, 2024, Lviv is experiencing a difficult day after a massive nighttime strike by Russian forces. Seven people were killed, including three children. At least 38 others were injured, with 10 people in serious condition, including children, said the city's mayor, Andriy Sadovyi.
According to him, more than 50 residential buildings in the city center and near the train station were destroyed.
According to the head of the OVA, Maksym Kozytsky, the Russian army launched a combined strike on the civilian sector. There were two heavy hits.
The railway is partially de-energized, many trains are late.
This morning, a rocket hit Kryvyi Rih, there are wounded there, but there were no deaths.

Russia also scrambled two MiG-31s and launched several Kinzhal missiles. According to the Air Force, the aeroballistic missiles were moving in the direction of the Lviv region.
Immediately after the regional head Maksym Kozytskyi warned about the threat of "Dagger" to Lviv, at 5:46 a.m. a very loud sound was heard in the city and the walls shook.
“Daggers in the territory of Lviv. Air defense is working,” Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi also reported.
This could be the first strike by aeroballistic “Daggers” on Lviv.

In addition, Russia launched Shahed drones that night, some of which struck near Lviv and flew over the city.
On the night of September 4, Russia launched dozens of Shaheds over Ukraine, and about five Tu-95 MS aircraft launched several groups of cruise missiles at night, which entered Ukrainian airspace after 4 a.m. and struck in the western regions of Ukraine.
In total, Russia's missile and drone attack lasted more than 4 hours and was declared over only after 7 a.m.
On September 3, Russia launched a missile strike on Poltava. At least 51 people were killed and more than 270 were injured.

“There are fires in residential buildings near the main station. Many broken windows in the area of Konovalets, Brativ Mikhnovsky, and Melnyk streets,” the mayor reported.
Maksym Kozytskyi reported seven deaths, and the number of injured increased to 38. Among the dead were three children, and among the injured were five more children.
“What is known as of now: one 15-year-old child is in moderate condition, four have minor injuries,” says Kozytsky.
Kozytsky later added that one of the deceased was a 14-year-old girl, and the other was 9 years old.
Sadovy clarified that an adult woman and man also died.
“The deceased was 50 years old, she worked as a nurse-midwife at the 5th polyclinic of the city of Lviv,” the mayor added.
Ambulances are constantly heading towards the affected areas throughout the city.
According to Sadovoy, two schools will not start classes today: students from Arnika and 17 will remain at home.

Several streets in the city are being closed, including limited traffic on Sknylivskyi Bridge and Konovalets Street. Tram and bus routes in the area are also being changed.
Ukrzaliznytsia reported a power outage in the Lviv region and train delays.
