At night, the Russians attacked Kyiv with cruise missiles, "Daggers" and "Iskanders"

After a hiatus of more than a month, Russia launched a massive missile strike on Ukraine, causing widespread destruction in Kyiv. There are 13 reported injuries, including a child. Two more were injured in the region.

About ten Tu-95MS bombers launched missiles at Ukraine, the Air Force reported. They reached the borders after 4 a.m. Later, Russia struck Kyiv with “daggers,” where cruise missiles also flew after maneuvers.

The military reported 31 rockets shot down during the night attack. “The rockets came from the north, the main direction of the strike was Kyiv,” the morning report said.

According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian military used 29 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles launched from 11 Tu-95MS strategic bombers (launch areas – Volgodonsk, Engels – RF).

In addition, according to the report of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, there were two more ballistic missiles — “Iskander-M” and “Kinzhal”.

As a result of successful combat work, all enemy missiles were shot down in the Kyiv region, informed the commander of the Air Force, Mykola Oleschuk.

Meanwhile, the Kyiv Military Administration reported that during the nighttime missile attack on Kyiv, air defense forces hit approximately three dozen enemy missiles.

The air raid alert in the capital lasted almost 3 hours.

During the night attack, the missiles circled the capital in several waves and flew west, reaching the Zhytomyr and Rivne regions.

However, some of them returned to the capital after the maneuvers.

Destruction in Kyiv and the region

In Kyiv, explosions were heard in many areas, mainly in the west and north of the city.

Rocket debris fell in several areas, fires broke out, and cars were damaged. There were casualties as a result of the attack.

According to Vitaliy Klitschko, in the Svyatoshynskyi district, rocket fragments fell on a kindergarten building, causing a fire there. Also, in this area, fragments fell on a residential building.

In the Svyatoshyn district, the shock wave even broke windows in two nine-story buildings.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, cars were on fire, as well as an apartment in a residential building. Residents were evacuated from it.

In the Podilskyi district, rocket fragments fell on the territory of several enterprises.

In this area, a fire also broke out in a transformer substation and a two-story non-residential building after the fall of rocket debris.

The roof of a residential building was on fire in Podil, the mayor said.

Rescue services are working.

The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Serhiy Popko, said that as a result of the missile strike in Kyiv, according to the latest data, 13 people were injured, including a child.

The mayor of Kyiv noted that two of them were hospitalized. The others were treated on the spot by doctors.

“In particular, six people were injured in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital. Four in Svyatoshynskyi,” Vitaliy Klitschko wrote in his telegram.

There are no reports of fatalities.

There is destruction and injuries in the Kyiv region as well.

According to regional authorities, two people received shrapnel wounds to their limbs and faces.

Debris from aerial targets in several areas of the region damaged private homes, outbuildings, and vehicles.

Previous blows

The last time Russia launched a combined massive missile strike on Ukraine was on February 15.

Then there were hits in Lviv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhia, and missiles were shot down near Kyiv and Bucha. The authorities did not report any casualties, only the wounded.

Since then, the Russians have carried out pinpoint strikes on individual cities with missiles or launched “shaheeds.”.

Experts suggested that such a pause could be related to the shooting down of a Russian A-50U radar detection aircraft over the Sea of ​​Azov on February 23. Without it, it became more difficult to carry out such strikes, observers said.

The bloodiest was the missile strike on Odessa on March 15, when several ballistic missiles killed 21 people.

Five people were killed when a rocket hit a high-rise building in Kryvyi Rih on March 12.

People were killed in Sumy, Vinnytsia Oblast, and other rear cities from the strikes of the “shaheeds.” In Kharkiv, 5 people were killed from a rocket strike on March 20.

But during a night strike by "shaheeds" and rockets on the night of February 22, two people died in Dnipro, and three in Odessa.

On February 7, the Russians launched a massive attack on Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Drohobych. Five people were killed in the capital.

And during the strike on January 23, 12 people were killed in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Pavlohrad.

In general, Russia began to conduct more active combined missile strikes since the end of December 2023. Initially, with an interval of 4-5 days, but the last few times the pause was about 8-10 days.
