At the Krasnoilsk checkpoint in Chernivtsi region, border guards, together with customs officers, discovered an attempt to illegally move cultural values across the state border. This was reported by the Chernivtsi border detachment.
The offender turned out to be a Ukrainian citizen who was traveling to Romania by minibus at night. During the inspection of the vehicle, border guards noticed suspicious packages in the luggage compartment. As it turned out, ancient coins were hidden inside among sweets.
In total, it was found:

2 coins of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, dated to the beginning of the 17th century;

3 coins of the Holy Roman Empire from the same period;

an ancient Lithuanian coin;
-
Third Reich coin.


All items were seized for examination. Customs officials drew up a report on violation of customs rules. Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the case, in particular, the origin of the coins and the possible involvement of other persons.
