Ballistic and cruise missiles were also fired at Kharkiv, Dnipro and Pavlograd, causing casualties in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Pavlograd. In Kharkiv, the entire entrance of a residential building was destroyed.
The first groups of rockets flew through Sumy Oblast in a western direction through Poltava, Cherkasy and Vinnytsia regions. After the maneuvers over Vinnytsia and Zhytomyr region, most of the rockets headed for Kyiv, where the air defense system was operating, and where the explosions took place.

The Air Force revealed that missiles initially aimed at Starokostiantyniv in Khmelnytskyi had made a U-turn and decided to attack the capital.
Over the past month, as a result of similar attacks by Russia, missiles from Tu-22M3 bombers and aeroballistic "Daggers" from MiG-31s are also usually released.
The Tu-22M3 group rose into the air after 6 o'clock in the morning and also fired missiles. Kharkov was also hit.
Prior to the launch of the cruise missiles at approximately 5:00 a.m., Russia launched a ballistic missile attack on Kharkiv, leading to a series of explosions.

Russia continues to use combined missile attacks similar to those that have occurred since late December 2023. It usually uses cruise missiles, aeroballistic Daggers, as well as S-300 and Iskander M ballistic missiles.
The first such strike occurred on December 29, and the following ones on January 2, 8, and 13. It is worth noting that the interval between attacks this time was ten days.
Experts believe that the delay in the new attack may be related to the destruction of the Russian A-50 radar detection aircraft on January 15 over the Sea of Azov.
During the attack on Kyiv on December 29, a record number of people died since the beginning of the invasion - as many as 33 people.
