The Ukrainian Armed Forces have struck buildings in the Kursk region of Russia, where, according to El Pais , North Korean military personnel were stationed. An officer of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed to the publication that Ukrainian artillery targeted facilities where North Korean military personnel are likely stationed, helping the Russian Federation in its war against Ukraine.
There is currently no official confirmation of this information, but according to American sources, including Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh, North Korea has sent about 10,000 troops to Russia for training and possibly participation in combat operations.
In light of new data on the military presence of the DPRK in the Russian Federation, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga has called on the North Atlantic Alliance to lift restrictions on the use of long-range artillery against targets in Russia. This, the minister believes, will allow for a more effective response to the expansion of the presence of foreign forces in the war and will strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities.
The presence of North Korean troops on Russian territory raises additional questions at the international level. The presence of new Russian allies, such as the DPRK, could change the dynamics of the conflict by providing Russian forces with additional resources.
