Austria is ready to accept new Ukrainian refugees in the event of further aggravation of the situation in Ukraine, Austrian Ambassador to Ukraine Arad Behnke said in an interview with Suspilny.
According to him, Austria has already provided shelter to thousands of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes due to the war, and continues to support Ukraine in all aspects, including humanitarian assistance. The ambassador noted that the country is open to accepting new refugees in the event of new escalations or aggravation of the conflict.
Currently, there are about 90,000 Ukrainian refugees in Austria, 80% of whom are women with children.
"Integrating, accepting Ukrainian refugees is relatively not a problem, because Ukrainians really want to learn the language. They are happy to integrate into the market. Of course, 80% of refugees are women with children, so it is a little more difficult. But I think that if there is a need, Austria is a hospitable country, and I do not see any problems, that if there is a new wave, then the Austrians have a big heart and will welcome Ukrainians," said Behnke.
