Austria is ready to accept new Ukrainian refugees in case of further aggravation of the situation in Ukraine. This was stated by the Ambassador of Austria to Ukraine, Arad Behnke, in an interview with Suspilno.
According to him, Austria has already provided shelter to thousands of Ukrainians who were forced to leave their homes due to the war, and continues to support Ukraine in all aspects, including humanitarian aid. The ambassador noted that the country is open to receiving new refugees in case of new escalations or worsening of the conflict.
There are currently about 90,000 Ukrainian refugees in Austria, 80% of whom are women and children.
"Integrating and accepting Ukrainian refugees is relatively not a problem, because Ukrainians really want to learn the language. They are happy to integrate into the market. Of course, 80% of refugees are women with children, so it's a bit more complicated. But I think that if there is a need, Austria is a hospitable country, and I don't see any problems that if there is a new wave, the Austrians have a big heart and will welcome Ukrainians," Behnke said.
